DOUBLE STITCHED

Double stitch and cement construction

There are many different ways to make a shoe, but there are only two ways to make a shoe that is truly strong and durable.

Double Stitched and Cement Construction technology

And this is the method Hanbag has chosen.
As a result, Hanbag is the only German manufacturer of alpine and trekking boots using solid cement construction technology and the longest-standing double stitch technology. Hanbag is one of the few brands that still make these boots with traditional craftsmanship and craftsmanship.

So what's the difference?

CEMENTED CONSTRUCTION

The insole is visible on the inside, and there are no seams around it.
Except for Hanbag's double-stitched models, all shoes are made of cement construction.
This is a very sophisticated and time-consuming technique, where the upper and the insole are perfectly joined, and then the midsole and outsole are applied.
The biggest advantage of the cement structure is that it maintains the shape of the shoe and the sole (last) without deforming it for a long time.
Hanbag uses this technique all the way down to the low-cut shoes. The disadvantage of this method is that it is relatively more expensive and time-consuming to manufacture. Shoes with cement construction can easily change the soles when the soles wear out. All of Hanbag's shoes can be insoles, so you can wear them for a long time.

STROBEL CONSTRUCTION

It is easy to make shoes in the form of a simple stitching of the upper and the midsole. It is suitable for running shoes or sneakers, but is not suitable for outdoor shoes that require sturdy and durable.
Strobel structures are relatively inexpensive and not as demanding as cement structures.
Named after its creator, this method involves stitching into the insole and then molding it around it.
This technology is used in shoes that can bend flexibly, such as running shoes. The strobel structure is not suitable for alpine, trekking or walking boots. It is also not sturdy enough and cannot be speared. Hanbag does not use this strobel construction in any shoes.

GENUINE DOUBLE-STITCHED

It is easy to make shoes in the form of a simple stitching of the upper and the midsole. It is suitable for running shoes or sneakers, but is not suitable for outdoor shoes that require sturdy and durable.

The double stitch technique is nothing new.

Rather the opposite. For over 90 years, Hanbag has used this true double-stitch technique to create sturdy and durable boots. And Hanbag is still one of the few shoemakers in the world with traditional craftsmanship and sophisticated handcrafted craftsmanship.

Hanbag's premium double stitch boots have been made by artisans in a German factory from 90 years ago until now. This double-stitched construction, in which the insole and leather upper are sewn together, and then the midsole is stitched together, is the most robust method of making a shoe and requires the skill and effort of highly skilled artisans. On the other hand, there are quite a few fake shoes on the market that mimic this double stitch technique.

They simply engrave two rows of stitching in a stylish way, but in reality they are not firmly connected, or they are partially done except for the toe cap or heel part. It also simply passes through the midsole connection, which is the second stitch, so it doesn't engage with the actual upper.

Hanbag's double stitch technology is not such an expedient, but a true traditional technique, and although it is a difficult and cumbersome construction method, it has the value of making strong and durable boots.
