The Kånken artist 2020: Moa Hoff

Moa Hoff is an illustrator, artist and graphic designer from Stockholm, Sweden. She has been working as a freelance illustrator after graduating from the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in 2005. Moa explains: “I always work by hand - drawing with pencil, painting surfaces and cutting paper. I want to get the sense of the material.” She has been a nature-lover since she was little: “I’ve always loved the forest and as a child growing up close to it, I watched bugs and tadpoles, tasted basil-thyme a spruce shoots, and thought for a long time that trees had their own secret life.” Moa says she was really happy to work on this project with Fjällräven: “I always loved Kånken. It was my school bag as a kid, and my kids have Kånken too.” Her inspiration for the Kånken Art project was a childhood memory of a hike to the mountains with her father: “I remember the light, the crisp colours and small knobbly mountain birches. It was this memory - the birches - and that feeling that I wanted to connect with when I created this pattern.” Read more about Moa Hoff and her what inspired her here.
